I looked up the '07's for you and there are two different ones. Here's what they say:

TD13-79-CFZ - Switching box - Required when auxilary console input and iPod Integration Module, PhatNoise or SIRIUS are installed. $142.00
or:
C236-79-CFZ - iPod Integration Module - Compatible with all iPods containing a 30-pin dock connector. Not compatible with SIRIUS or PhatNoise. Not compatible with Navigation on CX-7. $149.00

Other than that, I know nothing about them.

Hmmm, no idea what that second part is. You may however want to go ahead and not get the OEM integration module however. There are lots of different integration kits available, most of which are much more user friendly and offer more functionality than the OEM one. Most people seem to like the audiolink by rpm. Also the audiolink (and pretty much every method other than the OEM one) gives you a 3.5mm input in addition to the ipod connector, so you don't have to worry about the switch box to keep the ACI working.

Check out my link in THIS thread for details on all of the available methods.

I put a question in to Jason at www.onlinemazdaparts.com about that other p/n. He should be able to sort it out, though since it's 5pm on Friday it might not be until Tuesday. Personally I'd still go with the audiolink, but I'm happy to answer any other questions you have.

thanks spots.. here is what the seller replied to me with:

I totally understand your concerns so I have attached an Adobe Mazda Application Guide which shows that either part number will work with your car. The number on the Mazda website, C236-79-CFZ has superseded to the new number C9F1-V6-572. I hope this information helps.

Hmmmmm. Jason replied to me and said that the other number and the swtichbox are the only things you would need (assuming you got the switchbox that is). He didn't mention anything about a new part number though.

well thanks neway. i think i'm just gonna follow your advice and go with the audiolink from rpm. until i get it, ill be using the icar fm transmitter though. best fm transmitter i've ever come across.

EDIT: one more question.. if i dont plan on using sirius or phatbox, it's not necessary for me to get the switching box, right? i'm only interested in the ipod integration.

The only reason to get the switchbox is if you want the ACI to work while there is something else plugged into the port that it uses. The audiolink comes with a 3.5mm input so there's not really a reason to pay another $113 for the switchbox unless you really want that second input.
