Custom piping, different turbo.....even with the base mapping from Hiboost, your custom set-up would require significant tuning unless you perfectly reverse engineer (i.e. duplicate exactly)the Hiboost kit.(more expensive/bigger hasslethan just buying the Hiboost). Unless you are a custom fabricator yourself (saving $$$ on the labor), you will have a much better overall experience (and cheaper experience as you won't screw up your car) going with a known kit like Hiboost. There are literally dozens of 3s running around with Hiboost kits.
If you want your car to sit in a shop for months on end, go the route you are thinking, if you actually want to drive your car rather than it being parked at a shop, go Hiboost. You'll be glad you did.

I think what Tracker was saying is that a CAI/exhaust for your car now will be wasted money once you go turbo (as those components won't be compatible with the intake sideof the turbo housing& the exhaust wouldn't meet up with the exhaust side of the turbo.) Between CAI and exhaust you'd spend at least 600-700 bucks that could be put towards your turbo.
CAI and exhaust (without any tuning) will only net you a handful of hp (maybe 10) Not worth the money in my opinion if you are planning on a turbo down the road.
Take that money and put it in an interest bearing account (some are over 5% these days) and earn interest on the money until you want to get the turbo.
