Replacement No. 3 Engine Mount

Replacement No. 3 Engine Mount
So I've seen some people have problems with this and with my car being out of warranty (04 Mazda 3s hatch with 90K), I'm looking for some direction here. Not seeing any effects of it yet, but I'm sure it's a matter of time. The rubber sealon the top of the mount broke and is leaking.Which leads me to the following questions.
1. Is this an easy DIY repair? (looks like it would be)
2. Where can I get a replacement (outside of the dealership)?
3. How much can I expect to spend on replacement (OEM or aftermarket)?
4.Has anyone heard of this replacement product? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=300221828449
Thanks in advance!

RE: Replacement No. 3 Engine Mount
1. Yes, it should be an easy DIY. I'm told it takes them between 5 & 10 mins at the dealership to replace this mount.
2. Street Unithttp://www.streetunit.com/Mazdaspeed.../sums3asmm.htm is now also offering a mount, but they sell them in pairs (#3 & #4 together.) A 62 durometer bushing in a machined aluminum housing. Cost...? $300/pr.
Here's a place that carries OE style mounts. http://www.motormounts.net/
3. $100-$300 (no kidding. Why so much? I don't know.)
4. I have only recently become aware ofthis one myself, but have no knowledge of it's quality. General rule of thumb: If it's on eBay and you don't know what it is or where it comes from, stay away.
My #3 is shot too and has been for a while, but unlike you, my '04 is still under warranty for a couple more months. I'm planning a trip to the dealer before out of warranty.

RE: Replacement No. 3 Engine Mount
Thanks virgin1. I've checked out the www.motormounts.net site before, but according to the site the part is "unavailable". I guess I'll have to look elswhere for a No. 3. I did do a little more digging with the e-bay item and found this site: http://www.hardrace.com/products.asp...p;strClass2=18. I'm like you. I'm skeptical, but choices (other than the dealer) seem pretty slim. The site doesn't give much information. Any other suggestions?

This is another site that I found. I'm still waiting on a reply to be sure I can get a no. 3 replacement.

The Consumerguideauto link references a revised motor mount with different rubber being available (see Engine Noise, and Vehicle Shake).

RE: Replacement No. 3 Engine Mount
Does anyone have "how to install" information on the no.3 motor mount? I can't seem to find info anywhere. It looks like a pretty straight forward install, but I just want to be extra cautious. Thanks!

RE: Replacement No. 3 Engine Mount
The TSB only states to remove and replace. Like you said,it sounds and looks pretty easy. I have been told it takes a pro between 5 and 15mins to replace that mount, and they probably disconnect the battery for some unknown reason. They (Mazda Techs) seem to be required to do that just to change the oil???

RE: Replacement No. 3 Engine Mount
lol.It wouldn't be a big deal to me if I had warranty left. But where I live, (St. Louis) I'm just not willing to pay the labor they charge to work on stuff. I did stumble on a site that might be helpful for DIY'ers: http://www.mazdaclub.net/mz3ws/
