Reveraing camera malfunction (2016 Mazda 3 SP25 Hatch)
I've got an intermittent issue with my reversing camera and I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same issue/can suggest a fix that isn't spending over $900 with the Mazda dealership.
Basically the reversing camera works perfectly fine 95% of the time however the other 5% the image colouring is all distorted and becomes hash. You can still kind of use the camera but not reliably.
Mazda quoted $900 to replace the camera because it has an "internal fault" whatever that is.
I'll see if I can upload a video but would appreciate any advice you may have.

So you reckon what they're trying to charge is too high? It looks like replacement is required but the job should take 0.4 hours so I doubt they're getting paid $600ish. A quick google shows the camera is worth around $200 if not a bit more.

Force a system reboot by pressing and holding NAV + MUTE + BACK for 10 seconds if camera works then no parts required it needs a connector cleaning and affixed wire harness to eliminate intermittent problems. Dielectric grease around connectors, not the pins, is also good to avoid future issues. Visit mazda3revolution there are many threads on the subject.

Pierces Mazda, I would be contacting Mazda Customer Care ( NCS - National Customer Services ) 1800 034 411
Since this is a well known issue by Mazda, and the subject of a TSB ( Technical Service Bulletin ) there is a good chance of assistance.
