Default Rivet come off in turbo..

I have a 2015 Mazda 3, 2.2 diesel. 60k miles. Half the warning lights have come on dash is like a Christmas tree. It drives ok until you push it and obviously some issue with the turbo.
Took it to Mazda who charged me £75 to tell me it was an issue with the turbo and was £300 to inspect the problem.

I therefore took it to a local independent, he says he had a few Mazda do this and there is a missing rivet. Worst case the rivet ends up in the engine it can lead to needing an engine rebuild. Most likely scenario is a new turbo. Quoting around the £3k mark.. I have had a Google and can't see this as a regular problem, seems odd that a local garage would have seen 3? Also not sure I want to spend £3k + on a car worth £6,500 if it was in good condition..

Hi there,

I have had a similar problem with my cx-5 (2016). I took it to a Mazda dealer for a diagnostics and they told me the turbo rivet has come off and a new turbo is required. This is a very expensive repair from a Mazda dealer (£3000 +) They also recommended a carbon clean. What happened to your Mazda? Did you end up getting it fixed?

I had a local independent garage fit a reconditioned turbo. £2,250, It is still running..
