Should I buy the extended warrenty??

RE: Should I buy the extended warrenty??
depends, are you looking to mod it? If so then what I THINK you shouldn't get it because you will prob void the warranty your self by doing some mods. If you will do mods but very slowley then i say go for it, you never know what can happen.

In a word, NO!!! Don't waste your hard earned money on somethingyou are not liable to get any use of.
Dealers and "INSURANCE COMPANIES" make big money (profits) on these things. That should say it all right there.

Yeah, they make a lot of profit, that is true. I bought mine spanking new, did not buy the extended, despite some hard sell pressure up front, and follow up mailings.
My thinking was,I from day onehave been the only driver, I know I'll not abuse it, and I won'tskip oil changesor other maintenance. The 07 is the fourth year of production for this car, they by this point have worked out most of the kinks. The car hasearned very nice reliability reviews from both Edmonds and Consumer Reports.
The price of the EW I was offered was about the same as you were (somewhere under $1k). I figured that amount of money would cover a pretty big post warranty repair if and when it happened.
Things to consider for you would be, there has been another driver of the car before you, this is a slight wild card, they may have driven it hard, and maybe with only 2OK on the ODO, the affect of the abuse has not shown up yet. Also, how hardwill YOU drive the car?

If you are planning to turbo your vehicle or anything that would directly void your warranty, then don't get the warranty. But it is better to be safe than sorry. Sure insurance companies make alot of money, but if you get caught and need to have something fixed under warranty, you will be much happier.

I beg to differ with you... that warranty isn't that bad at all. In fact, I purchased a 6yr/75,000mile warranty and I am damn glad I did. I've had over $2,000 worth of parts replaced on my vehicle which included labor hours. If I didn't have that warranty, I would be kicking myself in the nuts.

So I wonder what they DON'T cover if you don't mod the car??
Do they cover pretty much everything except brakes, tires rotors and stuff like that.
Becaue I could see an alternator costing you 400-500 installed or an AC compressor at 60-70k

From my experiences, I've learned that if you have a close relation with the dealership workers (they know my car and that I've offered them food in the past), then they will hook you up as best they can! I've had my horn die on me and replaced, but my biggest replacedment was my valvebody which registered in at $2141.70 plus labor. I never would have wanted to pay that much money but luckily I had warranty so I had no worries.
I've seen people go into the dealership for tranny work and have it fixed under warranty. But yes, brakes, rotors, tires, etc will not be covered under warranty. If they feel you are beating on your vehicle or tinkering with it too much, they can rightfully deny your claim to warranty. Just don't go in there with your vehicle being dropped 2-3 inches, having oversized rims (adds stressed weight), headers, etc.

RE: Should I buy the extended warrenty??
I bought one but, I'm probably not their typicaly buyer. I never ever expected myself to buy a new vehicle much less an extended warranty. The reason, I have put over 200,000 miles on every vehicle I have owned. I plan to do the same with this one. Buying new and the extended warranty gets me the most amount of coverage for the life of one of my cars. I also do not plan to mod this car for warranty reasons as well as availability reasons.

I think you should stick w/those feelings, and still do.
Modding will certainly void your warranty, and those extended warranty companies are even worse about that than Mazda is.
Plus keep in mind that TGM_6 has a "6" (built in America,) V6 (Ford,)Auto trans. I'm sorry to say it (sorry TGM_6. No offense intended) but of all the combinations between the 3 series and the 6 series, that one is the most likely to develop and have issues. It's the main reason the 6 series doesn't rate as high a reliability rating as the the 3 series does. If I had his car, I would consider an extended warranty too.
