In a word, NO!!! Don't waste your hard earned money on somethingyou are not liable to get any use of.
Dealers and "INSURANCE COMPANIES" make big money (profits) on these things. That should say it all right there.
virgin1...How do "insurance companies" make a profit on extended warranties???? When you say "insurance companies" do you mean like "State Farm, Geico, Farmers, etc."?

An extendedwarranty is nothing but an insurance policy. Like for your home. Got a fire? Call the insurance company, etc...
When I was in the biz, the biggest seller of these was Borg-Warner, but it was underwritten by many other actual insurance companies. So you were actually paying the underwriting insurance company, as well as Borg-Warner.Borg-Warner was the middle man and got a slice of the pie too.
They didn't do it for free just because they like you.

Plus keep in mind that TGM_6 has a "6" (built in America,) V6 (Ford,)Auto trans. I'm sorry to say it (sorry TGM_6. No offense intended) but of all the combinations between the 3 series and the 6 series, that one is the most likely to develop and have issues. It's the main reason the 6 series doesn't rate as high a reliability rating as the the 3 series does. If I had his car, I would consider an extended warranty too.

ah, good call. i do not know much about the mazda3 and its manufacturing process. the 3 may be more reliable for sure then! when i bought the 6, i realized the risk I was taking... most likely the reason why i opted for the extended warranty. just had a gut feeling about it being i used to own a ford explorer...

The amazing Mazda 3, made in Japan,it is a beautiful thing. My window sticker (which I still have) says 95% Japanese content, assembled at Hiroshima. Having over time owned/drivenNorth American, European and Japanese built cars, I am a believer in the Japanese.

V1's point is a good one, they wouldn't sell the warranties so aggressivelyif they weren't big money makers. It is an insurance product, yes obviously, you pay a premium, they hope you won't make a claim, and if you do make one, they hope it is a small one, and if they are jerks, they can drag their heels and try to deny your claim.

The following linked article is a good read on the subject:

I'd seriously consider an extended warranty on any used car 3 years or older...mine has saved me some cash already - short is ABS system. God only knows what that would've cost.

A point to consider, if the shop looks itup, and discovers you HAVE an extended warranty, I wonder if "magically" they'll find something is wrong with your car. They know you won't b@tch toomuch, since you have the warranty, and at the same time, the repair shop can make some real money. Hmmmm.

I had a near bad experience with a dentist, who found 4 "almost cavities" afterdetermining I had really good insurance. I declined to be drilled, and the next dentist found NOTHING! Glad I declined, and decided to not fund dentist #1's new Lexus ....

And, a USA manufactured car, is inferior to one made in Asia. Malibus, Mazda6's, not near Mazda3 in quality. It's a fact.
