Default Sourcing a Mazda 3s ECU

Hello

purchased a Mazda 3s hatchback as my primary vehiclein November and love it. Last week the car started displaying multiple failure codes, jerking when driving, etc.

The ECU module has failed, part number, L5j318881a, which is back ordered with Mazda until Sept 7, 2023.

I can’t wait that long. I just bought this car after my previous vehicle died and I work 60 miles away, and I have kids with multiple therapies.

Both the dealers and our repair shop say a new, unflashed, unprogrammed part is the only option. Any thoughts on this? How are people resolving this issue? Is a refurbished module workable and safe?
