On the gas mileage thing........ 4000 miles so far. I'm 9 miles from work which can take 12 to 20 minutes depending on traffic. Sometimes it's off to the backroads to take the fun way home. I'm rarely in stop-n-go traffic and also rarely flying down the interstate for more than 10 or 20 miles so it's really no city and little highway miles. All that being said, I'm averaging 23.3 mpg for the whole 4000 miles. Best tank is 25.1 and worst is 22.1. The good thing so far is that the last two tanks have been 24.8 and 25.1 with the last tank also including a little safe fun with a mercedes and a mustang on separate occasions. All 93 octane from 3 different stations with no mpg pattern relative to the gas station used. The onboard computer usually reads around 2mpg higher than what I actually get.

I think you might be driving my car, only I run 92 octane and am at 3,000 miles.

Ughh, I just filled up tonite.......266 miles and the low fuel light illuminated.....then it took 12.3 gallons of 93 octane to fill 'er up. Math says 21.6 mpgThat's doing 70 mph on the highway, no high speed runs, and only maybe 10% city driving included, all with 87 octane. So we'll see how the super 93 octane fairs....I'm only lookin to get 25 mpg, geez!!
Make sure to run 93 for at least two or three tanks to make a fair comparison and to let the computer figure out the change. Base on the numbers, a 2 mpg increase will pay for itself.

Hey all,

Greetings from Sunny England. Just purchased my Mazda 3 MPS. Should hopefully be delivered end of this month. I currently have a Honda Civic Type R. Can't wait for the turbo action.

regards

Steven

The owners manual says that no special break in is required; however, there is a list of things to NOT do during the first 600 miles. They include racing the engine, sustaining high rpm, maintaining a constant speed (really should be constant RPM), avoid quick starts and hard braking, etc... I figured that I rarely do anything to violate these things so I mostly drove is normally with the exception of swapping gears on the highway to avoid cruising at a single RPM. Just go find some twisty mountain roads and enjoy the ride and the view and you should be fine.

correct me if i am wrong, but there a limiter in first gear and second gear that limits boost to keep torque steer from being a problem. maybe that is the reason for the boost fluctuation.
Yup, the boost varies depending what gear the car is in, but it fluctuates alot at the limit. As in major jittery. Weird. Or is it where I have the boost tap for the guage?....I got it t'eed into the boost solenoid/wastegate port, directly off the manifold, can't be any more direct I'd say. It's still odd to me that this factory hot rod doesn't have a gauge, not even a boost light or something.

In additon to all the torque management nanny stuff, each gear has a different boost map. A different set of directions for different directions. This may have something to do with it. But mostlikely does with the people who have gauges and see low boost numbers alot. As if it's not at full boost. On this note A boost gauge is something I'd LOVE to have. What gauges you got and where you mount them. If you say in a three gauge molded pod bor your dash yuo've made a new buddy.
