I've got a squeak in my upper dash (at least it sounds like it's coming from the upper dash). When I drive it on normal roads, little tiny squeaks from the driver side dash. When I took it on a "rough" road near my house, I got a squeak, and it was much worse. What is causing the squeak, and what can I do??

 

can you push on and panels and make it stop? The two most common squeaks that people get from the dash are from the glove box door and the rearview mirror.

 

It's up where the windshield meets the interior. It's not my mirror, or my glove box. Actually, it does help if I push on it.

 

is it sort of a whistling noise? because when i first got my car it ended up being the bug deflector on the front of the hood. they fixed the weather stripping and no more whistling noise anymore

 

I get the same rattling sound near the windshield...especially on colder days. It's very annoying actually. Going to the dealer Monday

 

Yeah, it's the same thing, on cold days, like under 34 degrees. I'm just gonna let it go, because it's only when it's cold, and when the interior is warm, there's no problems!

 

It sounds like the cold weather is affecting thecombined plastics in the car (obviously) that may be expanding and/or contracting at different rates, and unless you can find out exactly where the noise is coming from and perhaps installs some caulk strips to buffer it, that it may just be one of the many quirksof any car that you might have to live with. Frankly, if I owned an MS3 (Fun, Fun, Fun!!), I think that would be the least of my worries.
Sadly, Mazda dealers seem to be notorious for ignoring customer complaints such as this one.Too bad forus the customers, andfor them to have such a reputation, but it seems almost universal from the complaints I've read about.
And before someone accuses me of it, no, I am not trying to be condescendingby saying that.I am just trying to state fact.

It's only my best guess based on what you wrote about it, Man, and I could just as easily be wrong.
Funny, but I very rarly notice the squeaks and rattles that I know are developing in my car... 'cept the damn driver's side window thing (snap!) that's been "fixed" by the dealer already.
Mazdas are great cars w/their own set of quirks, but the dealers seem to be the quirkiest thing about them.

 

I checked it out, and it is exactly what you stated it is. I'm gonna put some foam stripping in between the window and the dash, and that should fix it.
