whats the math behind all that?
whats the math behind all that?
Best I got was 34.5 mpg, I average around 30 mpg.
People can sometimes deceive themselves sometimes by topping off the tank when they start the trip, then when they are re-fueling they only go to the first click. Not saying you didn't get this mileage, as I got the 34.5 while cruising down the freeway at 75 mph & I accelerate fairly hard all the time....so if you were going slower & kinder tot he throttle, it's quite possible you got even better mileage.

210 miles divided by 5.3 gallons = 39.6 mpg

i put in 16$ 0f gas (approx. 5.3gal.)when the low in fuel light lid up and i drove 210 miles round trip (S.F. / Sac.) before the light came on again. Therefore i'd used only 5.3 gal. for the 210 miles trip.(39.6mpg)
btw 06 3i 2.0 engine 5spd

Typically the way I do it is just fill it up to the when the pump shuts off, then drive whatever # of miles you want, then fill to the same level again. Divide the miles driven by what you put in the tank.
Your method is probably just as accurate. I'm sure I could get even better mileage if I remove that cement right foot of mine.
