Question Time needed for a factory order??

I have a 2010 3 GT on order, the dealer told me it would take two months-- but it's been a month and the car has not even been built and supposedly it spends a month on the water coming over afterwards. The dealer modified a car ordered for inventory and already in the system to meet my specs, I figured with it changing to a customer "sold" order it would speed things up. The sales guy is great but admitted he has not ordered a car for a customer before. Supposedly he asked the zone office to put a "hot" status on it but we're still plodding along.

Are these cars THAT backlogged, or has anyone here had them order a car for you and how long did it take??

Before you ask, the closest car they could find for me on a dealer trade was 700 miles away and I did not want it driven with miles or pay for transport so we went the factory ordered route.
