I'm assuming this product wouldn't really work with out injectors or a FMU of some sort even running at low psi. The air/fuel maps would be way off.

to say the least you could get by with a Walbro 255 inline fuel pump and a bit larger injectors, careful what you do with you motor though, all the internals of the mazdaspeed and the normal 3s are almost entirely different, so when you put it on first 2 things id do is internals (cam, piston heads and shafts, and prob a new stronger timing chain/belt) and then id get rid of that 4"x4" front mount haha! (you can prob find a stock evo front mount for really cheap... but dont boost over 7psi till you have the internals, and i would say dont even put it on till you at least have the injectors and fuel pump...

well yeah i was only planning on boosting like 6-7psi.

However, even with the injectors and inline fuel pump, the mass amounts of air flowing of over the maf probably cant compensate for the fuel going in.. the ecu probably isnt programmed for that....thats just taking a guess of logic really.

I was talking to guy on youtube that did a remote mount turbo system i think (7psi) and he was just using a tunable MAF sensor..The website is below.

our cars NEED a standalone EMU unit to do ANY type of tuning, if you think what looks like pencils stuck in a fuel rail is going to be enough to supply a t3/t4 series even on 7psi your asking for a blown motor. As for ebay turbo kits unless you have a honda i wouldnt get one its just to iffy

i agree with tracker, i was just giving you suggestions... if your going to turbo it why not just go with the speed3 motor and trans swap? at the verry least you know the motor can handle it, and just an FYI its more like a HUGE window marker then a pensil... ;-)

and it puts out enough feul for an evo or sti boosting 22 peak psi...(i was going to put mine on my 87 toyota supra T only boosting about 13 r 14 psi inconsistantly) you dont necesaraly need a stand alone EMU to achieve what your trying to, but it would make life easier, and as for your air the feul ratio issue, most newer computers can pick up a lack of oxegen for ignition, thats what the MAF or AFM does along with the oxygen sensors in your exhaust for too much, that being said i will go through a lot of them if you run it without tuning your car, you can use a hand held plug in tuner if your really skilled with the knowing how much air and feul you need for your system to work, but id just make a buddy at a mazda dealership to plug an acctual programing computer into it and redraw your feul map in your existing ecu...just my opinion!!!!!

Well it looked like that tunable MAF sensor would do the same thing as a stand alone EMU but for like half the price. They show screen shots and what not of a 3d maps of tuning your air/fuel.

Here is what most likely you need to have a little fun without hurting the car

Ebay turbokit-once you receive it you should check the mani for any cracks, use the wastegate as a paperweight and get another one, send turbo off to get checked for shaft play and cracks. ~1450

Spiltsecond A/F controller (allows you to tune the MAF sensor)- ~310 from
protegegarage.com

550cc Injectors (just in case)- ~300 from protegegarage.com

Valveboidies (in the transmission)- ~450 from lentechautomatics.com

Walbro intank fuel pump (just in case)- ~300 from ebay, walbro...wherever, its universal

I HIGHLY recommend NOT to go over 8psi rods are you worst enemy stock good luck

PS: these are just the EXTREME basics of it meaning that there a couple of other things that could be added to ensure even less chance of problems....not that the above list has any holes in it but its better to be safe than sorry

good call tracker... i would deff say the biggest deal with the whole thing besides the installation, would be making sure there is no shaft play, on my 87 supra turbo i used to own, the spindal bent and mealted into the compressor and spindle housing like a U... popped my oil return line off... and all this other bull... but after that you should be good and you can find that feul pump for 100 and 550cc injectors for 60 a piece... bummer cuz i just sold mine... haha
