My Mum has just bought a 2008 registered Mazda3 1.6 Takara with the 6CD changer (the HU is labelled CD changer), the dealer demonstrated the CD changer load functionality although didn't actually load a CD. When he pressed the load button, it showed WAIT 123456 although never showed IN.

I'm trying to load CDs into the HU but it doesn't do anything bar beep when you press or hold the load button nor will the HU accept a CD if you place it partially in the slot. I've had a look around and found people who couldn't get more than one CD to load but that was because they had a single CD unit, I can't get anything to load into this one at all nor even for it to show the WAIT as it did at the dealers. Pressing the eject button does nothing either.

Am I missing something very obvious or does it sound like there's a problem with this unit?

In case anyone ever comes across this wondering the outcome, the head unit was faulty and working fine once it was replaced.
