Default Want more power out of my GT sedan Any ideas?

Im not sure why Mazda refusing on making a Speed version for the sedan. It is definitely a better looking car in my opinion and that is the reason i went with the Sedan GT instead of the Hatchback speed. The 160 horse is just not keeping me happy but i don't wanna get rid of the car. I had a Honda Civic take me when two car length behind me before he punched it. Anyways I am wondering if anyone have any tips to get an extra 40 horse out of this 2.3L to put it up around 200. Any suggestions would be great appreciated.

1st off welcome, 2nd i kinda had the same feeling about mazda not making a fwd sedan speed, but i guess we will have to settle with the awd speed 6 . uh if you have the autotradgic a 5spd b16 w/bolt ons will pretty much hang with you, anything bigger will just roll on by (as far as hondas go). Dont let the "stats" fool you if they are even making 160 its def not at the wheels, the most id say your making is 135whp. More bad news is the expense of getting decent parts to barley make a worth while track run but hey u gotta pay to play. Cai or short ram= $50-83 (ebay prices, $150+ others), balance shaft delete kit=$80, header=$200+, exhaust=$250+, lightened flywheel=$200+, short shifter=$80+, so on and so forth. Its an obd2 econobox you have to "force it" to go fast, get it? anyway good luck

Thanks Tracker, I guess i will either have to settle with what the car has. With all you listed i might as well upgrade to the Mazda 6 AWD on day, At least their V6 is pushing 250 hp. Again thanks for the help and ideas.

Actually, IIRC, the Speed 6 was a turbo'd 2.3L.

yup the speed 6 is a 4banger, your thinkin of the reg all motor v6....which a disappointment it has alot of *** behind it but smacks into that speed governor pretty fast, where as the speed series dont have one (or so i have been told by other speed3 and 6 drivers)

What exactly is the difference engine wise between the 2.3L 3 GT. and the speed? I was told it was basically just the turbo and that was it. Or are the cams and pistons, etc upgraded as well??
