Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 2012 Mazda3 i Touring has been available with both the 2.0 liter MZR engine as well as the 2.0 liter SkyActiv-G engine. That plus the fact that the transmissions hooked to the MZR are markedly different than the SkyActiv transmissions means that unless you qualify which Mazda3 i Touring models you want reports from, you're going to see some fuel economy numbers which are rather good and some number which are, ummm, not so much.

My SkyActive Gas Mileage
I have only done city driving. First tank topped off got me 28.11 mpg, and while I did take it easy, I didn't baby it either. Second tank got 32.7 mpg, same driving, all city, but I also felt the power starting to open up. Seems the more I drive it and break it in, the better the mileage gets and the power comes out as well.
Transmission is solid. I have the 6 speed automatic skyactive transmission. I don't know if there are multiple models, but my car is the US Mazda 3 SkyActiv i-Touring model. I ordered mine in Graphite Mica from the factory with custom lighting, fog lamps, and the lip spoiler off the 2.5 model. I couldn't be happier with the look, performance and economy of the car.
Hope this is helpful to anyone looking.

2012 mazda3 itouring 4 door automatic
Trip computer says 36.7 mpg
Calculating by hand got me 37 mpg at the last fill up, so I trust the computer.
I drive about 40 miles per day, evenly split between city driving and highway driving (some stop and go on the highway)
The car has 3300 miles on it.
2015, update
The car is now at ~45 K miles, seeing ~37 MPG
Note, a new skyactive automatic transmission was installed at 44K. This was a dealer replacement under warranty.
My old transmission was making a lood wirrrrrrrrrr sound at low speeds when I let up on the gas.
