2012 Mazda 3 Skyactive 35mpg, 80%HW, 20%City
I am driving my 2012 Mazda 3 Skyactive Hatchback Automatic for around 90miles every day getting 35-36 mpg, on all the fill ups, speed range between 65-80 mostly cruise on 70, any suggestion to touch magic number of 40mpg, I have seen some postings match that number.

High Mileage
I drive about 70 miles one way to work, mixed with some moderate inclines. Upstate NY, Taconice SPW, I-84, and I-684. If you know the area you know that there can be some pretty good sized hills. That being said, when I don't drive like a lunatic because I'm late for work I can get well over 40 MPG, highest overall tank so far was 42.6 MPG, 563 miles on the tank before I filled.
What I do: Tires are SLIGHTLY over-inflated, no more than 3 pounds. I don't do more than 5 miles over the speed limit (55-60, and 65-70), and the big difference for me is using the cruise control. Here's the kicker with the cruise control though. Turn on the cruise control and then put your vehicle into manual shift mode. That will keep your car in 6th gear on even moderate inclines. Going downhill with it in manual and on cruise control it will let the car coast outside the selected speed because it can't shift to slow the car down.
That 40 MPG isn't hard to get, and even driving like a complete mad-man I have yet to see anything less than 36 and change for the calculated tank. I also calculate the gas myself using the "Driver Diary" app for Android and trying to stick to the same gas station and pump for consistency.
Hope this helps, and I'm always open to suggestions. I'd like to hit 45+ and I think I can. Does anybody have a line on high flow aftermarket air filters? I haven't been able to find much of anything for this car yet.

Improvements
Let me know how it works out for you Steve. Besides the air and the cruise control the only other thing I can think of is that I run Amsoil. They claim mileae improvements but it's really hard to gauge, I just like their guarantee and the fact that they pioneered the industry. Got the car Mid-August, about 11,000 miles on it now.
I'd like to hear if other people have tried these few small changes and if you've seen any improvements.
Any suggestions to help me hit 45+ MPG?
Any lines on air filters (after market higher flow/better mpg)?

32....with the automatic its harder to get a better average just because if your cruising at 35-40 its harder for the transmission to shift to 5th from what I've noticed driving the ones on my lot.....in the Manual you can do it ur self lol

Skyactiv Mileage
2003 2.0 Skyactiv Automatic
My wife gets 29.5 city driving, but it's 6:00 in the morning, not much traffic.
We just got 39.5 highway driving on a 600 mile trip.
Average speed was just under 70 mph, using the AC all the time.
We're in South Florida.
The car is only 3 weeks old with 1300 mile on it, so I was babying it. So far I'm very pleased, it may get even better.
