Default wheel squeal

It seems that my car has a wheel squeal. Now I got to get it to reproduce for the shop manager so that they can fix it. I know what the problem is, I just got to get them to agree to fix it under warranty.

Wheel Squeal

Patient:
2009 Mazdaspeed 3 (awesomeness)

Symptoms:
Moderately loud metallic squeal, that vibrates the steering wheel and break pedal ever so slightly. It does this at slow rates of speed forwards and backwards, also is typically heard after breaking. It does this both in turns and going straight, has no factor if warm or cold, and occurs randomly.

Prognosis:
Impression is that this may be the break caliper seizing up. Most likely the guide pins are not properly greased or the caliper was dead when it was installed in the factory.

Diagnosis:
Grease guide pins or replace entire caliper (under warranty).

Results:
After some generous greasing the symptoms appear to be gone. We will follow up in a week.

It is break related. I tapped the breaks when it started making the noise and it stopped. It would seem odd to me that the factory would not have tightened them to speck as I'd assume that a robot tightened them. The mechanics had checked it out and they may have checked that already. I will check it out in the morning though. Good thinking.

I got a call from my wife. The dealer had checked out the caliper guide pins and they were dry. They greased them and so far I got no reports of any more wheel noise.

Be careful not to over torque your wheel stud nuts, doing so can result in a warped brake rotor. There are torque values in the owner's man. for a reason. Good deal on the dealer/warranty fix
