RE: why automatic?
I am not a mechanic, could someone explain please "Valvebodies"?
At some point i want a stick, i had not choice but to get auto, at least its Triptronic, better than just an Auto, wanna race, shift to your gear and you good to go, except that i have noticed it doesn't shift as quick as on manual, oh well still enjoy Triptronic, in traffic just loving it, no hastle well except for some old people who use their brakes on the highway a mile away from other cars rrrrr. Read another post on better sensetive shifting, by better grounding your Ground wire from the battery, who has done it, let me know if it helped.

RE: why automatic?
many people who have done the ground kit have said that there are noticeable improvements for shifting and performance. although this modification doesn't have the huge impact such as a cold air intake, you will still be able to notice the small results such as smoother shifting and a bit peppier performance.

another thing that is common when racing that alot of peole forget about... you have to turn your Traction Control System "TCS" off in order to get alot of power to the wheels and let them loose. If you have the TCS on, the one wheel will retard until the other catches up to it.
just for those of you who wonder why they can't get alot of kick out of their ride... that's part of the many reasons.

RE: why automatic?
on the mazda6... there is a button labels TCS on the left side of the steering wheel and down a little bit. you just press it and a warning light comes on your dash saying "TCS off".
lemme know if you guys have that on your mazda3

RE: why automatic?
no, TCS will not effect anything else. If anything, your tires will leave a little more rubber at your expense depending on how hard you push your car from the startup.
and keep in mind, every time you turn your car off... and then get back in your car to turn it back on.. you will have to press the TCS button to turn it off again. that's just a precaution that mazda makes sure your TCS is on.
