Will 225/45-17 fit on a '07 Mazda3
The Goodyear RS-A are all but worn out at 15k (of course a few Solo II events didn't help). I'd like to replace the 205/50-17 with 225/45. The speedo difference is -.2MPH; 60 vs. 59.8. Can the stock rims take a 225 and will they rub on anything?
I'm considering GY Eagle GTs, the new ones that are non-directional and Tire Rack has them for $98.00.
Any advice would be appreciated...
Thanks,
Mark

215/45 is the widest you can go on the Stock wheel.
I have 225/40-18's on a 7.5X18 48 offset wheel on mine and I have a little rubbing on the protective plastic piece over the filler line for the gas tank and I am lowered.

I've been running 225/45-17's (Kumhos) for a coupla' years now, but I had to go to a 7" wide wheel. Some say 7.5" is the narrowest you should go w/a 225, but mine fit fine and do not buldge on my 7's. It was a weight/style issue for me.
As far as G~Y's are concerned.... don't get me started. I HATE 'em!!

The stock GY RSA's on my '07 were shot at 18K miles so I can't endorse anything from GY. I went with Kumho's in the same size 205-50/17, they come with a 30K warranty. They also seemed to ride and handle better than the GY's. I have a 2010 GT on order and they are installing Yokohama's now, same size though I believe.
