I have a 2012 Mazda 5 Sport 6spd manual with about 7,000 miles on it.

I've noticed in colder weather I get a noise that sounds like, for lack of a better description, a BB rolling around inside the steering wheel.

I've had the air bag off and noticed nothing loose or rolling around in the wheel.

Honestly, it sounds like the clockspring is making the noise, but it is a little odd that the noise seems to go away when the temp gets above 45 degrees.

Is this a common problem? The car is still under warranty, but I'd hate to spend the time taking it in if it is a simple fix I can do myself. Any input appreciated.
