2013 Mazda5 failed MOT on a few things...
Hi all,
Looking for some advice please - my Mazda5 has just failed its MOT on a few things and it's looking like it'll cost up to £1k to fix. It's a 2013 Diesel, so not compliant with ULEZ/CAZ (we're Bristol-based)
We've had the car for about 7 years and have had relatively trouble-free motoring (save for the tyre-eating) throughout the time we've had it. In fact I'd say it's been the most reliable car I've had. Absolutely love the car. Until now .
The car failed with worn brake pads on one side and a bad tyre tread depth. Wear and tear, but what's slightly worrying about the brakes is the uneven wear, which might indicate something more serious - guess we don't know until further inspection is done.
Major defects relate to suspension - arm ball joints and pin/brush excessively worn. Needs another tyre as well...
There are also a few advisories again related to anti-roll bar (slight play etc.)
It _feels_ like £800+ (cost of brakes work unknown) is expensive but all of these items look like wear and tear and would have happened anyway, in any car. This car only has 70,000 miles on the clock, even though it's 10 years old. Scrapping the car, as it's a diesel etc, seems excessive given the mileage.
Has anyone else been/is anyone else in this situation with their 5? If so what did/would you do please?
Cheers!
