Default Grating feeling through the accelerator pedal

Just after coming out of our driveway down a lowered kerb (normal flat driveway to the road) It happens about 20-30yds down the road & lasts for aboutasecond &its like something is rubbing on a driveshaft - Dealer can't find anything............

Its happened a few times at speed too but happens all the time when taking off from our driveway.

Anybody else have this happening ?

Cheers,

Co.

Hmm, you could be experiencing same thing as me. Have you seen this thread I started:

?

There are some good suggestions there.

Dave.

Does it feel more like a steering problem, an accelerator problem or a suspension problem?
From what you"ve already said, I would think the RF upper strut bearing/mount are in question.
But then again, depending on the angle of your drive, it could be that pesky RS upper motor mount (#3) too.

hi,

Think I get the same thing. I came on here looking to see if it was a known fault.

I get it every time the car has been parked and i drive off in it. It happens about 5 secs after pulling off and I hear a slight knock but feel it on the accelerator more, feels like a slight knock. It doesnt happen again then until the car has been parked again.

I'm 99% certain it's the ABS/DSC running through a test procedure, checking the pump and actuators etc., once you reach a certain speed. The RX8 does this, which I could see happening with my diagnostic kit. Unfortunately, it's not yet compatible with Mazda 5 so I can't confirm it. If I find the time over Christmas I'll scope the ABS system and see what it does just after a cold start.

The ABS and DSC make an awful noise when they're operating. If ever you have a chance to take the car onto a skid pan you'll see wat I mean.
