Default Help with Bluetooth!

My problem is, as are many, hard to explain because it is sort of intermittent.

I know my Mazda 5 (2012) is able to play BT Audio because it has done it, and also connect to the phone through Bluetooth. (I have an iPod Touch 5) And it HAS done both, but here is the problem. I attached my phone, then after a couple of hours, the car forgot it. I bought a new phone because it was an fairly old one anyway. For several days, everything was fine; whenever the phone attached to Bluetooth, it would emit a satisfying chirping sound. After about 1.5 weeks, suddenly the car did not see the phone anymore. I went through the pairing process again....it then worked for a little while, then did not see it. The whole time I was able to enjoy listening to my iPod.

Well, I lost my phone, so, once again, I got a new phone (Samsung Galaxy ACE). BT pairing was fine, but THEN my iPod could not been seen. And it just would not allow anything to be played. Is this familiar to anyone? Should I really try to explain all this to Mazda techs at the dealer? I have a feeling that that will be pointless. I don't trust dealers.

First thing u need to do is pull out your manual and call the Bluetooth hotline nnumber that it has in there. They will give u a walkthrough then give u a reference number for the dealer. The dealer will need that reference number to order anything. It sounds to me like u have a faulty Bluetooth module. The dealer will confirm that though. Another easy thing to try before u do anything is to disconnect the negative battery terminal and pump the brake pedal 10 times. This will power down all the modules and soft reset the Bluetooth module. Reconnect the battery terminal and start the Bluetooth say setup then pairing options the erase all. Resync your phone and see if that works.

Perhaps the problem is not with the BT device but with the multiple users/phones. I have noticed that my wife has problems connecting if I have used the car and vice versa after said phone has been connected.

What phones are you using? Sometimes the BT on the phone is not very strong. I had an old motorola that would never pair. My Nexus S works perfectly every time. Iphones often have issues. My father drives a Mercedes CLK series and it has issues with pairing too! His Samsung phone paired nicely though.

I have had to sometimes press play on my phone for the BT to recognize my device then everything works perfectly after that.

Hope that helps.

Default BT issues

Thanks for your replies. Let's ignore what my other phones were --- all I need to do is attached a phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace, which actually seems to be working fine, so far) and an iPod Touch (not an iPhone) which worked perfectly fine for the past 8 months or so (at which time, the car kept "forgetting" the phone!)

Thanks Racer: let me be clear when you say " disconnect the negative battery terminal and pump the brake pedal 10 times" you are serious, right? It just sounds like a weird, arcane ritual for a mere soft reset. Meanwhile, the weather here in Toronto is abysmal, so I shall wait until I try that.

One thing I note. The car seems to think it is attached to my iPod, and when I try to go to BT Audio (which it normally would say), it now says BT then a bunch of zeros.

Ya I'm serious. As a master tech for mazda I've been on the phone with the Bluetooth company quite a few times and that is the first thing they have me do is perform the soft reset of the module and then clear all devises off the system. Disconnecting the battery is the easiest way to do the restet. Otherwise u have to remove the glovebox assy and unplug the module.

I am glad i haven't had to deal with Bluetooth in a car yet!
I've had nothing but problems with Bluetooth mice on my Laptop computer. They don't last long. I finally got a cordless mouse with a small USB adapter. Wonder if they ever thought about that for cars?

Our original stereo in out 2008 sucked - didnt even have MP3 playback! We replaced it with a Kenwood KDC-BT848U, and the bluetooth works perfectly with it. No bluetooth audio though which is kinda lame, but front USB, so not a big deal. Sounds a million times better than the mazda factory deck.
