Default iPod adapter

Hi! We pick up out 5 GT tomorrow! Yay!

The dealer wanted $199 + installation for an iPod adapter. What are you all using? Does anyone know what inputs are on the back of the stock GT Head unit?

Default RE: iPod adapter

Hello,

I don't believe there is an industry standard plug on that unit. It uses a specific rectangular OE looking plug that has 8-12 pins in it.

Thank-you for your reply.

I bought an Xtrememac Airplay yesterday and it works really well!
I'll use this until it begins to annoy me it was only $40

I've found mazda and aftermarket iPod adapters. You can even use the stearing wheel controls. They seem to be using the external CD changer input on the stock stereo system/head unit. I like the AudioLink since there is an optional video out cable formy iPod Video. That will go perfect with an AVElectronics Navigation Video Interface with a reverse cam.
Here's the results of my research and some other helpful people. Hope it helps.

Default Ipod data in display

The car is a 2009/10 5 Limited Edition, and has a build in CD changer.
Is there any way of getting the song data from the iPod into the car stereo display, and to be able to control the iPod from the steering wheel ?

What is the best option to buy ?

Default iPod integration with Nav and Sat

I picked up a 2009 GT with Nav and Sat installed. On the source menu of the Nav it shows AM, FM, SAT, AUX1, AUX2 and IPOD. Obviously this stereo is designed to work with an iPod, but every dealer I've spoken with says that Mazda doesn't offer an iPod kit for the Nav. Mazda's site appears to say the same. It seems crazy that a stereo with the option to select an ipod for source wouldn't be able to work with an ipod kit. Can anyone help?

Default GT + NAV = No iPod Joy

The service manager at my local Mazda dealership spoke with Mazda corporate and apparently Mazda currently doesn't have an ipod interface and switchbox that will work with the 2009 Nav unit, however according to him, they are working on one. No release date at this time though. They better get it out soon because I partially bought this car because of the supposed ipod integration.
