Mazda 5 TCM programming
I have a 2008 Mazda 5 automatic with 156,000 miles. The "AT" light came on and it would not shift from 3rd gear. Took it to the Mazda dealer and they said that the TCM needed to be replaced ($900.00) but would not do it without replacing the wiring harness ($1,900.00) because the retaining lever clip was missing. Lever clip not sold separately, have to buy harness. Can get TCM new for about $500.00 and strap it on myself. However, I am told that the TCM has to be programmed. Who can do the programming beside the dealer? What is required to program the TCM. Does it have to be in the vehicle to be programmed?
