Default Mazda3=Mazda5?

Are most Mazda3 parts interchangeable with the Mazda5?

Sorry, I hit the button too quick. I have a 2010 Mazda5 and I know it is based off the Mazda3 platform. My question is, are most aftermarket parts that are available for the 2009 and earlier Mazda3 interchangeable with the Mazda5? I know they both use the L3-VE model engine; however, when I look online, nothing is made for the Mazda5 but everything is made for the Mazda3. Thanks!

Most hard mechanical parts will interchange between the Mazda3, Mazdaspeed3 and 5 series cars.
e.g. Sway bars, shocks, struts and springs, though the 5 series is heavier and therefore use the correct springs (MS3/M5) for it. Also brake, engine, and trans parts interchange. I'm not too sure about the exhaust system and intake, but it is likely they too would work?

virgin1 is correct except a 3 exhaust will not fit under a 5, reason is, on a 3, the muffler is in front of the rear tire, on the 5 it is behind the rear tire and no room for a muffler to fit in front. the piping is run the same but would have to be lengthened 4-6 inches to allow for the longer wheelbase and overall length. an intake (CAI or SRI) will fit.

Thanks, I appreciate it. This is the first Mazda I've bought and so far I love it. The only downside is the lack of aftermarket parts made for it. Hence the question, Mazda3=Mazda5. One last question though, does anyone know where I can get a good muffler for it? Something that won't make it sound like a lean running Civic but rather a nicer tone to it. Thanks again!

for the price of a muffler pre-fabbed for the 5... would probably be the same as a cat-back from your local exhaust shop, and you can tell them the sound you want and they should be able to help.
