Default mazda5 1.8ts engine blown

Hi, I have a 2006 mazda5 1.8ts which has done 48k miles, but the engine has just expired (bottom end)
I have been strugglng to find at the breakers a 1.8 unit from a mazda5 the part number of the engine is L823-02-300E
Does anyone know if the 1.8 mazda 6 engine is the same?

Should be the same engine used in the MX-5 and Mazda6, only thing that might be different are wiring harnesses and the accessories but you could always just use the short block from it and transfer your parts over.

Yes I know but the engine is the same, its the same 1.8L, the mountings MIGHT be different but I bet they are just bolt on plates that let you use this engine in a RWD or FWD, again same engine.
