mazda's recall
Hi all...
Just read in our local new paper mazda are about to recall more than 500,000 mazda 3's and 5's built between april 2007 & november 2008 in the US, Canada, mexico, europe, china, australia and ireland.
They have potential problem that could affect the power steering and cause sudden loss of power steering.
Shame they dont recall the 5's for tyre wear...
Anybody heard about this??

As for a recall due to tire wear, ain't never gonna happen. Why? Because it'll never be deemed a safety issue by the various traffic and safety agencies around the globe. That said, I know that the Mazda3 has had very nearly as many reports of premature tire wear as the Mazda5 (not surprising given the number of parts common to both cars), and at least some folks (me included) have yet to experience the issue.
In my case, I'd heard such horrible things about the OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-As that came on my car that I had them yanked after only 714 miles and had a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires installed in their place. I now have over 30,000 miles on the new skins and they look good to go for at least another 15,000 to 20,000 miles. So, my question is, do both cars suffer from crappy tires, poor suspension geometry, or both? My experience seems to indicate that the suspension is working correctly.
