Tell your dealer that you will take their demonstrator 5 until they sort it.
Otherwise tell them that you want them to hire a suitable car, as the car you bought is a lemon and therefore it is their job to sort it!

Have you reported the problems directly to Mazda UK?

Even though your dealer might be doing everything humanly possible to sort it out Mazda need to be told directly by us (the customer) that their product is failing.
It is the only way that they will realise how many cars have the problem, and then get the wheels turning to sort the cars out properly. I wonder how many sets of tyres they are prepared to pay for?

Not had mine long enough to notice any wear yet, only done about 800 miles, but my dealer in Paisley was well aware of the problem and has been monitoring all the 5's they have sold, they insist Mazda UK know about it and are trying to get a fix, they have suggested that the problem lies with the Dunlop Tyres are are changing them to other brands. Going with what everyone has been saying on this forum for the past few months and my experience with MX-5's (since 2003) leaving the factory with geometry settings wildly out, I would tend to think the problem lies elseware.

You are absoulutely right. The make of tyre makes little difference, and if it was the tyre it would not wear like it is doing on our cars.
The geometry is at fault. I took my car to an independent tyre specialist, who said that tracking was out front and rear. Mazda claim that it was spot on. As they are going to be putting towards the next set of tyres if they reckon the settings are right.... so be it....

I too have an MX5, a 2002 Phoenix. Once I had rid it of the damn awful Bridgestones and replaced them with Goodyear F1's The car was really happy... Not had any alignment problems though
