RE: Changing Back Up Light 2007 Mazda 5
Hello,
New to the group & have question about changing a rear back up light
on the '07 Mazda 5. First off, I used the instructions from the owners'
manual to attempt to (try to) change it myself. Big mistake on my part.
The manual says that you insert a flat head screwdriver covered
with a soft cloth to pry open the plastic (outside) housing.
Well, thinking this would be fairly easy, I proceeded to crack the
outside edge, about 3 inches in height by about 1/8 inch in width.
So much for trying to save a little money on maintenance.
I called my Mazda dealership & explained the situation to them.
The replacement piece of plastic is $480.00
They said that they will replace the back up light for $18.
In view of how I botched the 1st attempt, this is probably a bargain.
Just wondering if anyone has tried to replace any of the rear lights &
how did they do it. It wouldn't surprise me if they have a special tool for this. Here's where Mazda could provide a better diagram/explanations
and/or a vid. demonstration.
Thanks,
Mazda_Sam
