Reprogram Console Messages?
Hello.
Anybody know or have any links to where someone might know if/how to reprogram the message console in a brand new 5? Someone suggested it would be fun to change the "Hello" startup message to something more entertaining...

RE: Reprogram Console Messages?
i'm not exactly familiar with the mazda5... does it have the bose system?
i know for the mazda6, if you have the bose system upgrade, you still cannot reprogram the text as far as i've heard among many users. there is a metra dash kit that somehow allows you to reprogram the text to whatever you want but that costs a good chunk of money and it is for the mazda6.

Yup - found it. Thanks for the tip! It's around $200, which is a little steep just to put a fun message on your dash (that's all I'd use it for), and you're right - it seems to only be sold for the Mazda6, but I'm guessing Mazda would have used the exact same system for all similar dash displays in their cars, so the electronics part of the kit "might" work... maybe. If only I had $200 bucks I didn't need for anything else... like food...
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

RE: Reprogram Console Messages?
Interested in the post here as I have the Sport Nav 143 with rear park cam and the words that come across the bottom of the screen when I select reverse are in japanees characters. I asked the dealer about this in the 1st month of owning the car and he even had it in for a morning but couldn't work out how to change the text to english. I know the words only say be aware of your surroundings but it would be good to have them in English. Nithing in the handbook any suggestion?
