Question Road Noise from Mazda5 2009.

Hi,
I noticed that my mazda5 2009 has a lot of raod noise when I am driving on the motorway. Someone suggested to change the tyres.I currently have the tyres taht come by defaulkt with the mazda5 as far as I know.
Is there a type of tyres that would reduce the noise?
Any help will be appreciated.

Road noise depends on your tires, road surface, door seals and how good the vehicle is insulated from outside noises. Tires with more aggressive tread such as off-road, snows, all terrains and all seasons tend to be much louder than tires that have a much milder pattern such as pure summer tires, highway tires or "race" tires.

Is this a new development or has it been like this for a while?

Also welcome to the forums!! If you could please add your vehicle to your signature (use mine for example) it will help us all out in the future

Talking Crank Up the Tunes

I rarely hear any road noise. I hear the exhaust, intake or my loud stereo!
Couldn't resist! Love a good chuckle now and then!
Welcome.
The Mazda 5 is basically a Van. The sides are not insulated, and probably not the bottom or roof. I had a Van once. I insulated the roof, sides and floor. On the roof and sides i used insulation and 1/4 plywood covered in material as my sides were totally unfinished (mini cargo van). On the bottom, I put some insulation as well as a thick piece of rubber. If your's is finished, you could pull off part of the panel and get some low spray expanding foam to spray walls and roof. I had to do this to my Mazda 6 wagon as there was some insulation but not enough to keep the rood from vibrating with the bass, after spray foam, no more rattle. Are wheel wells insulated (right above tires)? This is where some kind of extra insulation will be of a benefit.
The picture of my van is bad as it was before i got a digital camera.
I don't know what kind of tires came with it, but i doubt they are aggressive. For new tires get "touring" ones, ask for quiet ones.
