Default Stone Chipping On Mazdas/Paint Quality

On a seperate issue, my car is cardinal red. has anyone else experienced excessively easy stone chipping? My 9 month old car is worse than it's predecessor, a Megane Scenic was at 3 yrs and gets driven on the same roads with the same frequency. And I have evidence of corrosion on all 4 alloys too. Deep joy!
I've pulled Iain's quote to a new thread to avoid hijacking the single busiest thread on the entire forum.

Althoughour 5 doesn't get driven much out of London, my 2 does. That has stone chips that are serious enough to warrantpainting after only a month. My Citroens managed a couple of years and 10's of thousands of miles before they started getting noticably chipped.

On a similar subject, the paint finish quality on the 2 (very slight orange peel) does not match the Citroens either. Not enough to complain about - but dissapointing when I felt I was "trading up".

I suppose the 2 is far more of a Ford than other (Japanese built) Mazdas

Both my Mazda3 & Mazda6 tend to chip as well.....On a side note, my 7 year/94,000 miles old 2000 Ford Taurus' paint looks brand new with hardly any chips at all....

At least you can get the paint from Ford - same paint codes.

Hi,

I see that its not just my Mazda then, i can't believe how many chips there are on the front of my car, more seem to appear every time its washed,
i do a lot of motorway driving, but have done for many years and none of my other cars (no mazdas) have ever chipped this easy.
