Timing belt tensioner???
Just booked my 06 Mazda 5 2.0d sport into Mazda for the major 75k mls service which includes the timing belt. The garage rang me and said the tensioner needs to be replaced @ an extra cost of £193. I thought that when ever the timing was done on any car the tensioner and idlers where done whether they needed replaced or not. With any other car this was all done and any mechanic done this as standard.
Does any1 no if Mazda recommend the tensioner to be done as part of the timing service
Thanks

I have always known that if your doing the timing belt you may as well replace the water pump (if powered by it) and any pulleys/tensioners that go with it. I guess every shop is different or maybe Mazda doesnt include the tensioner in the 75k service. I just LOVE (NOT!!) the UK Mazda site, cant even find the service needed for the 2.0 diesel, US site has the whole list of whats going to be done, UK site just says trust us, your in good hands.

I don't no about being in good hands, they're just trying to rip people off by adding on extras. I told them I'm not paying for it as it wasn't explained to me that they don't include the tensioner in the belt change which is ridiculous not doing it as standard practice. Really not impressed with Mazda.
