18" tire, will this fit?
I have some chrome 18" rims on my 99 Mazda 626 and Im thinking about seeing if they will fit on the 05 Mazda 6.. What I was wondering was if 225/40/18 tires would fit on the 05 Mazda 6 with no rubbing or other problems.. Thanks in advance.

Greetings DeleriousGuilt,
i am no expert on wheels but after some quick research, i believe the answer is yes. here's why.
Stock Tire - 215/50R17
Section Width: 8.46 in
Rim Diameter: 17 in
Rim Width Range: 6 - 7.5 in
Overall Diameter: 25.46 in
Sidewall Height: 4.23 in
Radius: 12.73 in
Circumference: 79.98 in
Revs per Mile: 816.9
Actual Speed: 60 mph
Speedometer Difference: -
Diameter Difference: -
Your Tire
Section Width: 8.85 in
Rim Diameter: 18 in
Rim Width Range: 7.5 - 9 in
Overall Diameter: 25.08 in THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACT
Sidewall Height: 3.54 in
Radius: 12.54 in
Circumference: 78.79 in
Revs per Mile: 829.3
New Speed w/18": 60.9 mph
Speedometer Difference: 1.517% too fast
Diameter Difference: 1.5%
in summary, these results show with your 18" wheels, you should actually have more clearance. technically, the car will ride lower too (by very little - .19 in). however, notice the section width of the stock tire compared to your tire. you will be going a little wider (.39 in) with the 18". again, this is likely very well within an acceptable level. to check tire size calculations google "Tire Size Calculator". i like 1010tires calculator, which is what i used for the above resuls.

RE: 18" tire, will this fit?
My rear 2 wheels are shredding rubber on the outter side of the tire.. Its only happening when i rub while making a sharp turn or going over a speed bump.. Only 3 to 4 times a day since i put them on so I guess its not that bad.. I plan on buying 19's after i save up some cash and ill be sure to not put something as wide as these 18's since they are rubbing due to the width of the tire..
