2005 Mazda 6/Low Profile wheels not working
Hey whats up! I am hoping that I am not the only one that this has happened to and that someone will have some suggestions for me. When I purchased my 6 I had wheels put on it. It originally came with 17". However, I couldn't find any wheels that I liked that were 17" so I went up to 18". I asked if the wheels I was getting would work on my car and made sure that I wouldn't have any issues. They said they would be great. Not true! The first time I put people in my back seat my suspension bottomed out and my rear drivers side tire rubbed the wheel well. If I have any weight in my trunk or back seat I basically have to drive in a straight line and not go in any gutters or dips to avoid it hitting. If I turn a corner to sharp or at to high of a speed it also rubs, and no one but me is in the car. I know that I can obviously change out my current tires and wheels and get something more stock on it, however, I do like the way they look. Does anyone have any suggestions what I could do as far as maybe some suspension work?

go to a body shop and ask them to "roll the fender" it's a very cheap, less than 1 hour process (you'd pay for one hour that the body shop charges) Some people can do it for $50 or less or if you're daring (I recomend you don't do this unless you know what you're doing) but with with a heat gun (or hair dryer) heat up the fender so the paint/plaztic/ and metal bend easier(and paint doesn't crack) and use the big side of a baseball bat and roll it along the inside of the fender pushing the metal out a few centemeters.

Never trust what most tire/rim shops tell you....they just want to sell you something. They'll just probably look at the bolt pattern and says it fits.
Do you know what offset you're running? You should be running a rim that has a +48 offset or higher. The six has a narrow wheel well.
The stock rims are a +60 offset. There are a lot of people running +42 and +45 offsets but have to roll the fenders to avoid rubbing.
Also, I don't think I've seen anyone run more that an 8" width. Most people who run 18's run it with a 7.5" width.
