Default 2005 mazda 6 turbo

I've been looking into getting a turbo. Ive been thinking along the lines of mazdaspeed 6 oem parts and pushing 7-9 lbs of boost. Im only 17 and dont have a whole lot experience with this so any advise would be great.

do you have a 4 cylinder or v6? you have to have a 4 cylinder to use stock ms6 parts. it is a lot more complicated than just bolting up all of the parts. you need engine management also.

On the off chance that the OP has an automatic transmission; how does the Mazda6 automatic handle the extra power of a boosted engine?

From what I've seen on other forums, it handles it fine. Going turbo is doable, there are several people that have done it. Take your time, do your research and don't cheap out on parts and you'll be fine.

I take it the Mazda6 has a much more robust automatic transmission than does the Mazda3 and Mazda5.

if it does i would be surprised considering its the same g-series trans that mazda has been putting out for the last 10 or so years and have the same problems with cracked bell housing and failing gears.

Kinda along the lines of what I was thinking. Turbocharging a Mazda6 with an automatic transmission is most likely just as risky as performing that same mod to a Mazda3 automatic. I'm thinking if Mazda had an automatic small enough and robust enough for the for their turbocharged FWD platforms, the MazdaSpeed3 would be available with an automatic. Last time I checked, it wasn't.

well OP hasent stated if they have a 4 banger or 6cyl. If its a 4cyl then yes its the same as the one in the mazda 3, i can only see a need to "strengthen" the trans for the 6cyl, even still there is the heat issue that still not addressed.

Will a mazdaspeed 6 2007 exhaust manifold fit a 2005 mazda 6 engine? I've seen heard that it has the same holes but the speed just has a few extra?
