2005 Mazda 6 won't accelerate
Hi,
Thieves broken into my house, took my car keys and my 2005 Mazda 6 S 3.0.
The police found it in a parking lot 2 weeks later. It had some dents and a broken window but looked drivable. The security system keep going on and off even though I had my Valet key. It finally settled down and I tried to drive it home. After going 40 yards I realized it wouldn't accelerate past 20mph and it was making a squealing sound when I step on the gas. The engine light came on, but this may have been caused by the fact that they had taken the air filter out of the car. I've replaced the filter and cleaned the MAF sensor. The check engine has stayed off since disconnecting the battery to clean the MAF. It idles well with no squeal until I rev the engine. I've driven it at least four miles. It seems to go though gears OK (auto trans), but it bogs right down when I get to 20mph. The squeal is something between a belt squeal and a bird whistle and doesn't appear to be coming from the belts. Any ideas??

No telling what they did to it. The sound you hear may be a converter restriction. They might have poured something into your gas tank and clogged the pickup sock. If they poured sugar into the gas tank it would clog the sock. Sugar does not dissolve in gas. Pop by a parts store and have them pull the codes on it. If you have insurance let a dealer iron it out.

Thanks for the reply
I did finally have the engine light come. The only code I got was P2177 (system too lean on idle bank 1). I don't see any leaks or hoses off. It may be secondary to other problems that don't give an P code. Anyways, its going to the shop tomorrow.
