2005 Mazda6i AT strange shifting from 1to2?
I just bought the car two weeks ago and I've put on about 600 miles. I've noticed that in very slow speeds like driving through parking lots, the shift from 1 to 2 is very hard and even makes a noise. Has anyone experienced this type of shift or is this normal?

From 1st to 2nd before the car has had a chance to warm up very much, I get a 'clunk' or 'rough' shift. After it warms up, this goes away and it shifts smooth. I think it may be just the way the trans operates, as I've seen similar posts before.

Its called shift shock. Bring it to Mazda and they will fix it for free. There is a Transmission Control Module (TCM) update that will fix the problem. It is not a mechanical problem with the Transmission. Once they update it, it will be smooth as silk at any temperature!

The only way I know of to see the available updates is during the reprogramming procedure with the Mazda WDS at the dealer. Before the programming begins it wil show you a list of all the updates that will be installed with reference to the appropriate service bulletin so you can read more about it before starting. You can at that point continue with the programming or abort and leave it as is. Your dealer will probably let you do this if you ask.
