2006 mazda 6 3.0 v6 performance upgrades
hi i have a 2006 mazda 6s 3.0 litrev6 with the 6 speed atx w/autostick, what are my options on some performance upgrades, im thinking an intake and chip, i dont really want an exhaust system but maybe if theres like a resonator delete or something like that but keeps the stock system, anyways anything anyone in here can tell me would be appreciated.

also does anyone know of some simple things or tricks there are to do the car to get some small gains, for example things that are there just to quiet up the car that can be removed to get a few hp's and obviously better sound and other things of that nature.

Okay, the best is the airbox (?) mod. I couldn't find any guides, but I know there out there. Basically, it takes out three pieces from the airfilter box. All they do is quite the engine. It takes about 30 minuts I think.
The other one is the coolant bypass mod. This one's hp gains are debatable, but it's generally accepted that it prevents hp lag by slowing heat soak. This one takes maybe an hour and costs between 5 and 10 dollars.
Do some google searchs and you'll find guides for these free (or cheap) mods.
On to expensive modifications, becareful with CAI's, as they have tendencies to trip the CEL's. The only way I know around this is by getting a MAF bypass from CP-E. (or you could just get there CAI, which comes with it.)
Hope this helps some.

Cpe also makes headders, i believe, then there is the steeda throtlebody spacer. Also lightweight wheels will give you a boost in power (so long as you make sure that they weigh less than the stock wheels) due to the engine not having to work as hard to turn them. As far as the exhaust goes, with this car there is no hp to be gained by replacing anything forward of the catalytic converter unless you have already replaced the headers or have gone with a custom forced induction setup.
