Default 2009 Mazda 6 - Trunk will not open - Valet Mode?

I have scoured the internet and read through the entire area of the manual that would address this to no avail… please help!

The trunk will not open on our 2009 Mazda 6. There is not a valet / trunk disable button in the glove box.

When we try to open the turnk, a light flashes on the dash. It's a car with a lock over it. I would assume we're in some sort of a valet mode… but have no idea how to get out of it?

Please help!!!

Thanks!

You can open the lid manually, rear right seat at the top has a small plastic cover, you need to press that small bar with a screw driver on the car key and then you will have access to go inside the trunk and open it manually, the latch coil could be bad , I am not sure if the body control module is controlling the trunk coil.

A : Do you have a release lever / button near the drivers seat?
B: Do you have a Boot release button on your remote?
C: GH Mazda 6's ( 2008 -2012) have a bad habit of the rubber release button on the boot lid ( trunk ) splitting , letting n water and frying the switch.
