Angry 2014 Mazda 6 - How Long Will She Go??

Greetings...

So I am new to this "car" stuff! I am a single mom and love my 2014 6. I am a realtor so I drive ALOT! I started having noise rattling and shaking going on with my car.

The auto shop told me... that I am in need of new motor mounts, rooters, and brake system. I still owe $9k on my car and with mileage upside down.

The guy told me that Mazda is no Honda or Toyota and that its not worth putting the work into it because Mazdas are know for having transmission issues and nobody's Mazda's last.

I thought Mazda's were reliable cars long term?? What is everyone else's opinion or thought on this? I have not had any issues with my car other than issues with the braking system. The braking system issue

was present when I first bought the car and after 10 trips to the dealership they still couldnt get it right.... Do you think I have some time left? I was hoping get her to last another year.

How many miles currently on your car? Is maintenance been kept up to date and is it currently up to date? How many miles do you drive per year?

The truth is, maintain a car well and it should last many-many years.

Regarding that BS about Mazdas being unreliable, yeah, about that, just BS, plain and simple.

Lex, I know the thread is a few months old but I'm curious on how you made out (I'm assuming you'll get an email alert saying someone replied). I've had 2014 6 since December and I did a lot of research before springing for it. It seems that as a whole, Mazda's are extremely reliable and minimal for required maintenance, on par with Toyota and Honda. First, it sounds like you need a new mechanic. It's a 2014 (not that old) and you're upside down on the loan.... I can't imagine why you wouldn't fix it, almost don't have any other good option. Every car will need things like brake rotors at some point.... even T&H. Motor mounts shouldn't be too bad of a repair.... does this mechanic happen to sell cars too?

What is the Braking issue?

We have a 2007 Mazda 5 with 324,000 miles on it and still running! Our first Mazda. They are cheap cars but reliable and long lasting with good maintenance. I'm not happy with the interiors and the paint is so very thin. They gotta save money somewhere when making them.

I have a 2017 Mazda6 with 42k on it, so that's not a good example. However, my boss has a 2016 Mazda6 with around 175k on it and he's had no trouble related to motor mounts. Maybe your car needs those things and maybe it doesn't. Rotor and brakes are more than likely needed. Those are wear and tear items. If you're in real estate I imagine you do a lot of city driving. Motor mounts? Who knows. Maybe. He should have never told you that you made a poor choice of automobile. Believe it or not, there are still mechanics that like to talk down to women when talking cars. I would get another opinion and move on from this guy.
