Exclamation air intake question?

So I have a 2003 mazda 6 and had an INJEN cold air intake put in my car and my check engine light goes off and on every now and then but mainly stays on. There is a cord that looks like it should have a sensor on it. A mechanic told me it was the air/temp sensor. Is that right? And if it is, what should I do to correct it?

I remember reading somewhere else about this. I believe (IIRC) the fix for the ambient baro sensor was, that there is no fix for that w/certain CAI's. The harness is meant to be left unplugged.
I'm sure that offers you absolutely no comfort as it wouldn't comfort me either.
Perhaps there is another problem that is not being addressed however?

yeah that might be the case. BUt the mechanic couldnt reset the diagnostics and said I would have to take it to a dealer to have it reset to see if there is another problem. But he said that would cost me $100.

Ok 2 things

1. I believe that CP-e makes a black-box style fix for this particular intake.
2. an ecu reset is as simple as unplugging the batt for a few minutes.

Did you mean an air straightener, or an electronic piggy-back of some sort?

I will say that Injen makes what I consider some of the best overall CAI's based on the info I have been able to cull. But you might try, as Cameron suggests, disconnecting the battery for 15-30 mins and reconnecting it.
Keep in mind that you will lose your radio settings, tripometer info and clock, so you may want to write them down before performing an ECU reset.

It's an electronic piggyback as I recall. I think it's similar to their MAFCi in that it changes the signal being sent to the ecu to compensate for whatever it is that causes the CEL to be tripped.
