ATF Fluid
Hi guys. I am fastly approaching 32,000 miles. I was thinking of getting my Automatic Tranny fluid changed. Do I have to use what the dealer uses or is there some better ATF fluid that I can use (AMS) ? Thanks for any help!

RE: ATF Fluid
I too had my ATF power flushed / refilled by the dealer at 30k miles. It's cheap insurance. Every 60k would probably be sufficient, but I personally just feel better doing it every 30k. I'd say go for it.

RE: ATF Fluid
Suitable syhthetictransmission fluid for Mazda6
If you have a Automatic....(Either 6i or 6s) Your transmission requires Mercon V fluid and your choices are...
Redline D4 (Mercon V)
Amsoil Universial Synthetic (Mercon V)
Royal Purple Max Life ATF (Mercon)
The 6s ATX takes 9.7 qts.
The 6i ATX takes 7.6 qts.
If you have a Manual....(Either 6i or 6s) Your transmission requires SAE 75w-90 API Service GL-4 or GL5) and you've got alot of choices...
Redline MT-90
Specialty Formulations MTL-R
Royal Purple 75w-90 Max Gear
The 6s MTX takes 2.4 qts in a fluid exchange.
The 6i MTX takes 3.03 qts in a fluid exchange.

RE: ATF Fluid
I was comfortable with "every 60k miles", but still do it every 30k miles myself. But you know,a couple of weeks agoI was speaking to a car-dealer-friend, who said that Mercedes-Benz nowrecommends only 1 transmission fluid change EVER, at 80k miles. He says their reasoning is that more frequent changes than that can actually cause the transmission to start slipping prematurely. So hell....now I don't know!!
