Default CEL-acceleration

I am new to this place obviously and I don't know much at all about my '06 Mazda 6S V6. CEL is on, and I have had 2 of my guy friends check it out and they came back with 'barometric' something or other, and described it as intake issues. Well I just picked the car back up from the dealership after having body work done, and they said they reset the light and found no problems after driving it. I was 2 minutes out of the shop when it came back on, the car was not accelerating smoothly at all. I had to get back to work though. Can anyone help me trouble-shoot this CEL so when I bring it back I can tell them what to look for exactly? And does any MANwant to bring it in for me so they will stop trying to bullcrap me? (jk)

Also- I used to have a 98 Gr.Cherokee with a 5.2 V8and I feel as though it could still blow my 6 out of a stop...do I have a lemon? Or does it just not have much pickup?

Sorry to hear that the dealership is treating you badly just because you are a female. That is totally wrong. Would be more that happy to go in with you and explain the situation but a quick trip check from here to where you are reveals a total travel time of almost 48 hours with total miles traveled at 3174 so I would have to say "that would be a negative!!"

What is the code number that your friends are pulling up. Only show three for your car.

P2227 EGR Boost/BARO sensor circuit performance problem
P2228 EGR Boost/BARO sensor circuit low input
P2229 EGR Boost/BARO sensor circuit high input

Each code could lead to a different set of things to look at before you return for repairs.

Well if it is the intake, what intake do you have?

The not accelerating smoothly sounds like an engine problem, the lack of 'get-up-and-go', unfortunately, does not. In all honesty not much happens with this engine below 3K rpm, there just doesn't seem to be much in the way of torque below that. In contrast, Jeep's engines are tuned for lots of low rpm grunt, which makes them good for rock crawling and off-roading, and they are geared as such too, this translates into a quick launch, but lower top-end speed, whereas the 6 is more for highway cruising and the ocasional romp through a twisty back road. Just a quick glance at the engine specs will tell you a lot;
5.2L Jeep:
HP= 230 @ 4400 rpm
TQ= 300 @ 3200 rpm

3.0L M6::
HP= 215 @ 6000rpm
TQ= 199 @ 5000rpm

It's quickly evident that the Jeep produces power real early on in the rpm range, where as the M6 is a much higher reving engine. Hope this answers the power part of your questions. If there are any other don't be afraid to ask!

Hey thanks Guys!

The code was # P2229 and I ended up bringing it in this morning. Well it turns out to be 2 clogged CAT's and they need to be replaced.Thank goodness it is still under warranty!

Cameron-
Thanks for explaining the power Jeep vs. Mazda- it makes alot of sense. Althoughit does make me miss my jeep more...oh well.

2 clogged CAT's causing a code P2229. I doubt that very much.[:@]
