Charging System Malfunction

Charging System Malfunction
Hi, I have a 2016 6. Just recently I got a warning that of a "Charging system malfunction, pull over to a safe place". From what I could find (and a mechanic agreed) it was the age of the battery that was causing it to no longer be able to take a charge when the rpms are above 3000. I had the battery replaced but it didn't solve the problem. Any ideas?

No kidding and he should also find a better "mechanic". Did you read what they said about the battery?
12 volt batteries can almost in every case be charge to at least 12volts if for any other reason to test the batteries condition. There are some condition that would prevent a battery from being charged back up but the components that make up a battery in this world we live in make those condition rare.
The ECU should have been checked for DTC's, the battery voltage checked and if below 12 volts charged and load tested. Then the charging system check if the battery load tested to be ok.
