Default Cold Air Intake

Hey! I'm new to Mazda and new to this forum. I have just purchased a 03 Mazda6 with 20,000 miles on it and I absolutely love it!!!! It was my girlfriends dad's car and he barely drove it. He decided that he wanted an SUV, so he sold it to me for $10,000 (pretty much exactly what he owed on it!). It's an 6s automatic. I was looking to get a cold air intake put in. Is there anything I should be aware of, and for those of you who have had it installed, did it make a noticeable difference?

Thanks!!

well from what i was told by some members here, stay brand name. there is a cold air kit and a SRI (short ram intake). the cold air kit places the filter down behind the front bumper and the SRI kit keeps the open filter in the engine bay. i guess the one you get is based on your prefrance. but yeah EBAY has tons of the "cheap" cold ait kits for these cars, and they must be 50 bucks for a reason VS. the AEM kit that i was looking atfor around 250 bucks. im sure others will be along to help you. i still havent gotten mine yet. good luck!

With alot of cheaper CAI they will throw cels. So i recommend if you have a 2.3l engine then go with either AEM or Mazdas intake, If you have a 3.0L engine i recommend the CP-E at www.therpmstore.com Its very high priced but really worth it for the 3L. If you dont want to spend that much money then go for Mazda or AEM.

i would recomend injen technology...i originally bought AEM but the part was deffective and cause my MAS to be replaced...so AEM sucks and Injen is sweet...plus it gives the car a sweet sound at low rpm

I have an '04 6s with the AEM, cai. I love it the engine revs quicker, never thrown a cel, and I love the throaty sound it gives the car.

Awesome! Thanks everyone. Got exactly the info I was looking for! I think I'm gonna check out the CP-E first and see what it's all about. If not then I'm gonna go with the AEM.

CPE MAFci is the intake with the most gain. (and most expensive)
it features a customizable sensor so u can get the most power

the Injen is the 2nd most expensive, and yields a good amount of power (around 10 hp)
its the one i'd get.
