Strut bar on this car does nothing. The struts in the front are so close to the firewall that there is little to no flex at that point. You would be better off just going with the sway bars. Now, some of the under body chassis braces are another story, but they will only give a subtle boost to handling.

 

I'd love to get this set of Bilsteins, but it says that they're only "suitable for vehicles at stock ride height, or lowered up to 1.5 inches."

I have Tein S-Tech springs installed, which lower the ride height by 2" in the front and 1.5" in the rear. Would the Bilsteins still fit, or would I need to look for something else?

 

They will fit, only problem you will run into is that the shocks will wear out faster, but this is going to be true for any shock on a lowered car. Those are actually the set I have on my car and they are awesome!

 

well that's good news, in a way. that's less money to spend. question about those mazdaspeed springs. mazda says they lower the car 37mm, is that at all noticeable do ya'll think? especially for when I get new wheels

 

This is more or less how the car will sit on the mazdaspeed "hatch/wagon" springs with 18" wheels & 225/45 tires (the car has settled out a bit from here, but not much, it's and even 2 finger gap front and rear).

 

Good to know...I'm thinking those just might be my next investment. What would you estimate the approximate lifespan of those shocks to be? I figure I'll probably keep my 6 for at least another 4-5 years minimum, and I average about 10-12k miles a year.

Nice ride, btw...is that yours? I dig the black with black rims. Is that the stock antenna mount, with the antenna itself screwed out? Personally I couldn't stand the stock horse-whip, and replaced it with the shark fin. Looks way better, IMO, and less like a radio controlled toy.

37mm=1.46", which if the car settles that much, is quite a bit.

Yes, it is my car, and the antenna was out cause I had gone through the car wash about 5 minutes before taking that pic. As for rubbing, yeah they did, just a little till I rolled the rear fenders. Sorry for the giant pic, I'm used to forums resizing the pics with a message at the top (click for full size) and am too lazy to go and resize it just for this board. With stock wheels it shouldn't rub or if you can find a 7" wide wheel with a similar offset to stock. But seeing as that is pretty near impossible, you are more than likely just going to have to roll the rear fenders.
