Excessive changing on Ignition Coil Packs
Hi,
I have a Mazda 6 (2004, 6 cylinder, 90000 miles/145000 kms).
Since Aug2007 I have had the same Check Enging Light Error Codes come up on my car.
Code P0302 - Coil N2 Defect - Replaced - 28Aug2007
Code P0301 - Coil N1 Defect - Replaced - 06Nov2007
Code P0301 - Coil N1 Defect - Replaced - 08May2009
Now I jsut got Code P0302 appearing again...Coil N2 Defect.
Has anyone else had this problem? It seems a little crazy to keep having to change these coil packs so ofter (and expensive)...
I don't know if these are symptoms of a bigger problem and changing the coil packs is just like a band-aid solution that doesn't address the root cause
Thanks for any input

I've had to replace #2 & #5, but only 1 time each. Car has 94,000 miles. Very strange you are failing the same cylinders repeatedly.
FYI...There are generic coil packs available at auto stores that are significantly cheaper than the factory units. (Around $40 each)
Have you put in new plugs lately?

Coils
I have 133,000 miles on my 2004 Mazda 6 and just replaced the plugs (Bosch) for the first time. I had a miss in the engine after installing Bosch plugs had engine checked and replaced coil #1. Still had a miss. I changed #2 and #3 coils and went back to Motorcraft spark plug. Car is running like new. 1.5 hours to chage coils and spark plug. Not very hard!
